Dewhurst Torevell has a highly qualified and experienced team of independent advisers. In addition to the four directors of the business we have also developed and recruited a group of talented investment professionals and support staff.

Alan Torevell

Alan Torevell

Alan Torevell BSc (Econ.)

Joint Owner and Company Chairman

Alan Torevell graduated from the London School of Economics in 1961 with a degree in Economics.
He then spent several years teaching economics during which time he acted as Education Consultant to the London Stock Exchange.

In 1973 he co-founded one of the first IFA companies, Torevell Mahon. He was an Independent Financial Adviser for over 40 years.
Alan was a founder Director of Dewhurst Torevell in March 1997 and is company Chairman.

Martyn Torevell

Martyn Torevell

Martyn Torevell MA (Cantab), ACA

Joint Owner and Managing Director
Martyn Torevell graduated from Cambridge University in 1988 with a degree in Natural Sciences. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Arthur Andersen in London before transferring to Milan. He returned to London in 1993 and worked extensively overseas with clients including a number of government controlled investment vehicles in Europe and the Middle East. He left Arthur Andersen in 1997 to join Dewhurst Torevell as a founder Director and shareholder, becoming Joint Managing Director in May 2013.
In addition to his accountancy qualifications Martyn is qualified to Diploma of Financial Planning level and has clients throughout the UK. Outside work he is involved with a number of arts organisations and was recognised as a Cultural Champion of the North West in 2011 and 2012.

Emma Holden

Emma Holden BA (Hons), MA

Director

Emma Holden graduated from Kingston University in 1990 with a degree in Business Studies, before completing an MA in European Studies at Guildford University.

Emma has over 20 years’ experience in Financial Services and Financial Planning. Emma joined Dewhurst Torevell in 2000, holds the Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning, is an Associate of the Personal Finance Society and is a fully qualified Chartered Financial Planner.

Daniel Jones

Daniel Jones

Daniel Jones BA (Hons)

Adviser

Daniel graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University with first class honours in Accounting and Finance. As part of his degree he spent just over a year working at Manchester Building Society in the mortgage underwriting and investment departments and for a brief period in the society’s commercial banking subsidiary.

Daniel Joined Dewhurst Torevell in July 2010 and has now become one of our registered financial advisers. He holds the Diploma in Financial Planning and is currently working towards the advanced diploma.

Amanda Valentine

Amanda Valentine MA (Oxon), ACA

Finance Director, Compliance Officer and Company Secretary

Amanda Valentine joined Dewhurst Torevell in September 1999 as Financial Controller and Company Secretary. Amanda graduated from Oxford University in 1987 with a degree in Chemistry and then joined KPMG qualifying three years later as a Chartered Accountant. She had a successful career with them and was a Senior Manager in Audit prior to joining Dewhurst Torevell.

Amanda was appointed to the role of Compliance Officer in July 2008 and assumed the role of Finance Director in July 2016.

Georgina Ogilvie-Jones

Georgina Ogilvie-Jones

Georgina Ogilvie-Jones MA (Oxon)

Chief Investment Officer

Georgina graduated from Oxford University in 1995 with a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics. She worked within the asset management sector at McKinsey & Company for five years in the London, Sao Paulo and New York offices. In 2004, she joined UBS, New York in a research role within the healthcare sector. She has also worked for Bear Stearns and Morgan Stanley in research and research management roles. On her return to the UK Georgina worked for a discretionary manager for 2 years and she joined Dewhurst Torevell in September 2013.
As part of her role Georgina regularly produces investment summaries and research for our website. Samples of this research can be found in the research area of this website.
