Chetham’s Symphony Orchestra has today announced that Dewhurst Torevell is to become its first ever major series sponsor in a two-year deal worth tens of thousands of pounds.
The Manchester-based wealth manager has supported Chetham’s School of Music for over 15 years through its sponsorship of the annual Dewhurst Torevell award and patronage of the Humphrey Chetham Club. The new deal sees the Oxford Court business extend its support to sponsorship of the world-renowned 90-piece youth orchestra.
The sponsorship comes at the right time for Chetham’s who are raising the last £1 million to complete and fully fit out the new School Building. Phase 2 of the project will see the creation of a 400-seat Concert Hall that will provide Chetham’s Symphony Orchestra with the space to perform to a full audience at home, which is currently not possible.
Alan Torevell, Dewhurst Torevell chairman, said: “We are delighted to be able to extend our relationship through the sponsorship of the Chetham’s Symphony Orchestra. It is a privilege to be associated with a world-renowned ensemble and we are lucky to have such an orchestra in Manchester. Like the CSO, Dewhurst Torevell’s performance is based on the dynamics of individual and collective success, and we therefore see this as a natural collaboration.”
Claire Hickman, Head of Chetham’s commented: “The relationship that Chetham’s School of Music shares with Dewhurst Torevell is an exceptional demonstration of the value of business and the arts working together. The partnership highlights how creativity, philanthropy and longstanding relationships are at the heart of Dewhurst Torevell’s ethos. For our students, it offers professional recognition of their standards of excellence, and brings new opportunities for them to perform to an extended, and always captivated, audience.”
