DT and The Arts
Dewhurst Torevell has a long history of supporting the arts. In 2012 the company received two nominations for the national Arts & Business Awards. In addition Alan and Martyn Torevell were individually recognised as North West Cultural Champions at the annual Arts & Business awards ceremony on 27 April for their involvement with Chetham’s School of Music and Manchester Art Gallery.
We are one of the longest standing members of Manchester Art Gallery’s Corporate Members scheme, sponsoring key exhibitions such as Turner: The Late Seascapes. The scheme allows works of art from the gallery to be displayed in our offices in Oxford Court and also to host client events at the gallery itself.
The company is a longstanding supporter of Chetham’s School of Music with our Chairman, Alan Torevell, recently appointed Chair of the Humphrey Chetham Club. This is a network of business leaders who have supported Chetham’s in the past and who continue to do so.
More recently we have helped support the development of the new school building and have sponsored the widely regarded Chetham’s Symphony Orchestra. Alan Torevell was appointed Deputy Chairman of the school Feoffees (trustees) in 2013.
We also regularly host lunches at Chetham’s for clients of Dewhurst Torevell and we are sponsors of the Dewhurst Torevell Prize for musical presentation.
Manchester’s Royal Exchange Theatre is another arts institution that we have supported for many years and we are proud members of their Exchange Club. Martyn Torevell is a director of the Royal Exchange Theatre.
